The Good And The Bad From Week 2 For Baltimore

The Ravens edged the Jets 24-23 Monday night. There are many things that can be taken from Monday’s win, some good and some bad.

One of the best things about the win was the defense. Two touchdowns and lots of pressures on Mark Sanchez and Kellen Clemens reminded everyone why the Ravens are the Ravens. Also good was Joe Flacco. Flacco didn’t complete that many passes, but he made all the throws and stood in the pocket to take some hits. The linebackers were good too. Tavares Gooden, in my mind, nailed down the starting job in Monday’s exhibition game. Jameel McClain once again proved why he made the team last season. He was burned by Leon Washington late in the second half, but redeemed himself with a defensive touchdown. Steven Hauschka was another bright spot and it seems he all but locked up the kicker’s position for Baltimore unless the team gets cold feet and calls up Matt Stover.

Ravens Impress In Preseason Opener

Sorry I have been M.I.A. for a bit, I have been having some computer issues, but I must blog about the Ravens preseason opener.

Thursday night Baltimore took on Beltway rival Washington. The Redskins looked absolutely brutal in getting shut out 23-0. However, the Ravens defense looked as ferocious and dominant as ever. Through all four quarters the “D” was flying to the ball, or causing turnovers. Even backups like Dannell Ellerbe seemed to fit the Raven profile.
