The Maryland Terrapins (6-1, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) pulled away from the George Mason Patriots (5-3, 0-0 Colonial Athletic Association) to earn their sixth straight win.
Sophomore guard Dez Wells led the way with 25 points in the Terps’ 69-62 victory. Wells scored the first eight points for Maryland to get the offense off to a good start.
The Terps once again outrebounded their opponent by a wide margin, but still struggled to put the Patriots away because they turned the ball over and missed several foul shots.
In this hard-fought victory, the Terps’ depth and size wore down George Mason.
The bench didn’t contribute much in this victory, but Alex Len had 12 points and Nick Faust had 14 points.
Maryland will play Wednesday night against University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
