The season opener for the Maryland Terrapins (0-1) against No. 3 Kentucky (1-0) was thought to be tough. It certainly was, but the young Terrapins hung in. Maryland lost 72-69, but the game felt different than anything from last season.
This season’s Terps are physical and big. They’re also very good at rebounding and have improved their foul shooting.
Possibly the most improved player on the team is sophomore Alex Len. The big center finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Kentucky’s freshmen were just a little bit too much in the end though. Maryland plays again Monday night against the Morehead State Eagles.
