No. 8 West Virginia (4-0, 0-0 Big 12) beat the University of Maryland Terrapins (2-2, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) 31-21 Saturday afternoon.
Perry Hills connected with Stefon Diggs twice and Marcus Leak once for Maryland’s scoring, but again turned the ball over in key situations. Hills lost a fumble in the first quarter which the Mountaineers ran in for their first score of the game. It was the eighth fumble lost this season for the Terps. Leak also lost one late in the game.
Diggs continued to exhibit his ability with a 56-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
As for the defense, they mostly played well. The Terps’ defense held West Virginia to their first scoreless quarter of the season.
The Terps open up ACC play against Wake Forest next Saturday.
