I was very excited for the opening of college football season this weekend. Then I watched the Maryland Terrapins (1-0, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) play William and Mary (0-1, 0-0 Colonial Athletic Conference).
The Terps didn’t look good on offense, but the defense kept the team in the game all day. However, in the fourth quarter, Justus Pickett was finally able to break through for Maryland as they pulled ahead of the Tribe 7-6. That was the final margin of victory for the Terps as well.
After that, it was all Terps. The Maryland defense seemed to stop the Tribe from doing much of anything and the offense was able to lean on the smaller William and Mary defenders.
Other than the fourth quarter, it was a pretty unimpressive debut for the 2012 Maryland Terrapins.
The player that was impressive was highly-touted freshman Stefon Diggs. The five-star wide receiver showed off his speed and return ability as well as his receiving skills.
The Terps will take on Temple next Saturday.
