The Orioles acquired Jim Thome from the Phillies. That’s perfect for the offense.
Thome is perfect to plug in at the cleanup spot. Or he can hit fifth behind center fielder Adam Jones.
The Orioles needed another bat with an offense that clearly misses right fielder Nick Markakis hitting third.
Now the only problem seems to be what to do with Mark Reynolds, Chris Davis and Wilson Betemit.
I think the Orioles may try to move Reynolds before the deadline. He strikes out a ton and hasn’t provided a lot of power to this point in the season.
It’s nice to see the Orioles strike early in the trading period, however.
