This game shouldn’t have been a doubt and it wasn’t for the Baltimore Ravens (9-3) Sunday. They got off to a fast start with running back Ray Rice, who gained 204 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries. His workhorse-type day yielded a 24-10 Ravens’ victory over the hapless Cleveland Browns (4-8).
Rice wasn’t the only running back to get in to the act. Backup Ricky Williams gained 76 yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown. Williams gained some tough yards, but found a lot of holes in the Cleveland defense.
Quarterback Joe Flacco didn’t have a banner day, completing just 10 passes on 23 attempts, but he did complete big plays and had a few dropped balls.
Flacco did fumble for the 11th time this season and lost his sixth fumble on the season when he was hit by Jabaal Sheard.
As for the defense, they collected three sacks, two from rookie lineman Pernell McPhee. McPhee has been an absolute stud in passing situations all season long. Terrell Suggs had the other sack.
The biggest play of the day came on special teams in the fourth quarter. Lardarius Webb returned a punt to give the Ravens their final touchdown of the day.
The Ravens will play Indianapolis next Sunday. If they win out they will be the AFC’s top seed.
