After a big comes another disappointing loss for the Baltimore Ravens (6-3). The Seattle Seahawks (3-6) used three Baltimore turnovers and rugged running by Marshawn Lynch to upset the Ravens 22-17.
David Reed, a wide receiver/kick returner, fumbled two kickoff returns which cost the Ravens six points. He also had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which pushed the Ravens back on an offensive possession.
Also contributing to the Ravens’ special team woes was kicker Billy Cundiff. Cundiff missed two field goals of 50 yards or more. With those six points, the Ravens win this one 23-22.
Now I’ll stop piling on the special teams.
I thought the Ravens got away from the run a little too soon. Ray Rice only carried the ball five times for 27 yards. Rice did have a touchdown pass to Ed Dickson in the second quarter.
Joe Flacco was 29-for-52 for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Flacco’s touchdown came in the fourth quarter. It went to Dickson.
Obviously, Dickson was another story from this game. He had a very good game, catching the ball 10 times for 79 yards and the two touchdowns.
The Ravens now have a chance to tie the Steelers for first place in the AFC North when they square off against the Bengals next Sunday afternoon.
