What a struggle that was for the Ravens (5-2). Baltimore fell behind 24-3 in the second quarter before outscoring Arizona (1-6) 27-3 the rest of the way.
Joe Flacco started slowly, but once he was put in the shotgun during the third quarter, he got hot. Flacco threw to receiver Anquan Boldin several times and moved the ball down the field.
Each time the Ravens got close to the end zone, Flacco threw it up to Boldin, but he was interfered with. Ray Rice finished off the drives, scoring all three of Baltimore’s touchdowns.
The defense harassed Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb all day long. Kolb was sacked six times by a ferocious Ravens’ pass rush.
Baltimore’s defense allowed 207 yards on the day.
The problem spot appeared to be special teams. Baltimore allowed rookie cornerback Patrick Peterson to return a Sam Koch punt for a touchdown. That return was part of the momentum that gave Arizona the early lead.
Baltimore will face Pittsburgh Sunday night at Heinz Field next week.
