The Ravens (4-2) had all the advantages that you could think about coming in to their Monday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5), losing 12-7.
Did Joe Flacco play well in the loss? Absolutely not. Was it all his fault? Nope, I don’t think so at all.
Baltimore’s patchwork offensive line didn’t do a good job of protecting Flacco, forcing the fourth-year quarterback to scramble and misfire on multiple occasions.
Flacco also couldn’t find his receivers, including running back Ray Rice, because they were covered up by the Jaguars’ stout defense all night.
Rice also fumbled for the first time in a regular season game in almost two years.
The best part of the night was the play of the defense. Baltimore’s defense held Jacksonville to 205 yards, but did give up over 100 yards to running back Maurice Jones-Drew who had 30 carries.
Billy Cundiff even got in on the act, missing a 52-yard field goal.
I would even say there was some questionable coaching involved. After the Ravens’ only touchdown, a pass from Flacco to Anquan Boldin, John Harbaugh inexplicably called for an onside kick. That play allowed Jacksonville to kick the game-icing field goal.
All-around this was a miserable game for the offense. Baltimore will need to regroup for a reeling Arizona Cardinals team next Sunday.
