The Maryland Terrapins (2-5, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) struggled on defense in their 41-16 loss to the Florida State Seminoles (4-3, 2-2). From the opening kickoff, Maryland continued its season-long slump on defense as they watched the Seminoles score on their first two drives for a 14-0 lead.
Maryland was able to intercept quarterback E.J. Manuel and force a few punts. However, the offense, originally led by quarterback C.J. Brown, wasn’t able to get much going.
Brown didn’t do too much running, like he did against the Clemson Tigers last week, but he did throw a few nice passes. Brown was knocked out of the game after a hard hit at the end of a scramble. Danny O’Brien replaced Brown and led the Terps to a touchdown.
The offense also couldn’t get the running game going, gaining just 52 yards against a stout Florida State defense. It was another trying day for the Maryland Terrapins.
To pour salt in the wound, on Maryland’s last touchdown of the day, kicker Nick Ferrara missed the extra point.
Next Saturday, they will come home to face Boston College. They will try to earn their second conference victory.
