This one was tough for me. I had no idea who to root for and how I would feel about who won. I decided I was happy either way by the end of the game.
The Maryland Terrapins (2-2, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) started slowly, but tired out the Towson University Tigers (3-1, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) to beat their opponent 28-3.
Danny O’Brien had two touchdowns, including the final score, a pass to fullback Tyler Cierski which made the score 28-3.
O’Brien didn’t have one of his better games, but he did complete 14-of-21 passes for 123 yards and didn’t turn the ball over.
Maryland’s defense once again had a lot of problems getting off the field, allowing 378 yards 7-of-15 third downs converted. However, they forced four turnovers, two interceptions and two fumbles, to aid in the victory.
The Terps harassed Towson quarterback Peter Athens who played well, but his receivers dropped several balls that could have easily put them ahead of Maryland.
Maryland will now move on to play Georgia Tech in Atlanta next weekend.
