Finally, Sunday afternoon the Baltimore Ravens will open their home schedule. The unfortunate opponent will be division rival Cleveland Browns.
The Ravens are coming off a loss in a game that the defense didn’t allow a touchdown, but Joe Flacco threw four interceptions. Flacco gets a bit of a break this week facing the Browns defense, so the expectation should be better numbers out of him.
Last week’s loss shouldn’t be all on Flacco, however. The Ravens haven’t done a good job of establishing the run yet. Cleveland’s defense isn’t as skilled as either of Baltimore’s first two opponents. Ray Rice should find some room, making Flacco’s job easier.
Defensively, the Ravens are getting stronger with the return of Cary Williams, Josh Wilson learning more about the defensive scheme, Lardarius Webb getting game action last week and possibly the debut of Terrence Cody. The fact that the Ravens are getting healthy is just adding to the team’s strength.
The biggest key to holding Cleveland on Sunday will be special teams. Joshua Cribbs is the Browns’ biggest weapon and makes their team go. If Cribbs is contained, the Ravens will win this game easily.
When it’s all over, this should add up to a 30-3 win over Cleveland.
