There’s been a lot of talk of the Ravens acquiring Brandon Marshall to fill a gap in the receiving corps. I think this would be a good move. Mike Preston of The Baltimore Sun floated a trade rumor of Troy Smith, Demetrius Williams and a draft pick for Marshall. Makes sense logically.
Baltimore has five quarterbacks still with the team so trading one of the quarterbacks instead of cutting one and getting nothing for him. Also, Williams hasn’t really proved a whole lot except that he gets injured. Marshall has just proven he’s a head case.
Marshall has over 100 catches and at least 1,250 yards the last two seasons. No Ravens receiver has come close to those numbers. Derrick Mason is the perfect compliment to the fast and big Marshall. The offense could open up even more than the Ravens have shown so far this pre-season.
The only issue, of course, is Marshall’s legal issues and his recent scuffle with Broncos management. If the Ravens make a trade for him General Lewis will keep him in line. Of course that is Ray Lewis. We’ve seen it so many times before here. A player with a bad reputation for either not playing hard or being a total malcontent has been signed and suddenly he is a model citizen. One example that comes to mind is Sam Adams. Adams was a decent defensive tackle and then the Ravens signed him. Lewis’s energy and passion excited him and he became a Pro Bowl-caliber player.
If Lewis can have a little talk with Marshall he will become an excellent receiver and learn to shut his mouth. The General usually takes care of players big mouths and Marshall will be no exception.

I can see your reasoning and you make some good points regarding Ray’s leadership. Certainly someone among the quarterbacks will be let go. Don’t know if Ozzie will be willing to pull the trigger on the trade, though.
Did you see the Marshall video from last week at practice? There are guys with issues then there is BM. He has shown that he zero problem quitting on his team if he’s not happy. I don’t want that here.
